Lily is a tiny, almost, eight pound, silver dapple, mini dachshund who was picked up as a stray by the dog warden. There was no room in the shelter, so you know what that means!. So we brought her into rescue. .It was very sad at first as she kept checking everything and everybody, possibly looking for her owners. However, she seems to have settled in to her foster home and is now doing very well., a REALLY special little girl. She is marked so very unusually., it looks like a few snowflakes have fallen and basically landed on the top of her head and are sprinkled gently all over her body.
She has a very sweet personality and loves to be held in someone’s lap. She loves to go for rides in the car and will actually jump in the car, before you have a chance to lift her into the car. She seems to like everybody. However, due to her
small size Lily will not be going to a home with young children If you are looking for a tiny bundle of loving dachsie, Lily is your girl..

They slept in dog beds previously, however they are sleeping in bed with their foster folks., and love it. The new owners of Sugar and Honey

Honey is a smooth coated, 9 pound dachshund who is one of a pair of 4 year old, female dachshunds, who we will be placing together. (Sugar is a long haired, red dachsie, also pictured on this site.) They have spent their entire lives with a woman and a man who are in their early 60′s. Changes are occurring in their lives and they will be moving, where they can no longer keep their dogs.
The dogs are in excellent health and are current on all of their health care. They have very pleasing personalities and make up with strangers quite quickly. They are very bright and are good little watch dogs, that will let you know, if they think you should be alerted to something. It is fun to watch them together, as they go about their little antics. Honey and Sugar are certainly lap dogs; if there are not two laps to sit in, make room for both of them in yours.

Woody walks quite well on a lead, as his owner took him for frequent walks. He has plumped up a tiny bit, as he has not been getting out much, due to his owner’s health. He is current on all of his vet care.and all that he needs is a loving forever owner.

Sammy – an 8 year old, dark mahogany red with gray on his muzzle and feet. He has been neutered, shots up to date, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. He loves people, is energetic with a waggin’ tail, loves to gives kisses and thinks going “bye bye” in the car is the greatest thing on earth. He needs a home with either a secure fenced in yard (he’s been known to escape in the past) or an owner who would take him for frequent walks so he can do his “business”. He loves to play with toys and frequently carries them around, even outside when he potties. He loves food of any kind. He does not like having his nails trimmed, so it would be better for a vet or groomer to handle that. Sammy would be at his best with a family or single owner that would take him along in the car and let him snuggle under a blanket on the couch or bed. He has not been around cats or small children, so it would be preferable if his new owners were primarily adults with older children. I believe he would get along well with other dogs. Sammy’s owner has been placed in a nursing facility; he is in northern Kentucky.

Newby – a special needs boy and will require a home with previous dog experience. He was abused by his original owners – the extent of which isn’t fully known. He’s approximately 6 years old, a “clear” red with a sweet face who sometimes enjoys carrying on a “conversation” with you. He’s still full of energy and loves to “zoom” down halls. He sometimes piddles out of anxiety. We believe he’s afraid that once he goes outside, he won’t be allowed to come back in. We’ve found that if he’s walked outside frequently he does pretty well. Newbie still has a lot of life and love to give, but his new family will need a lot of patience. Newbie has not been around cats or small children. He weighs about 13 pounds, is neutered, crate trained. His shots are up to date and he walks well on the leash. His owner has moved to a nursing facility; he is in northern Kentucky.
